What happens when a journalist enters an energy saving wonderland?
-
The Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation offering free, impartial advice for those looking to save some energy and money. Most people want to be energy efficient. But it can be hard to know how. The Trust was keen to change this by developing a unique media event showcasing top energy saving products from the likes of Bosch and Smeg - launching sustainable energy into the public domain once and for all.

Getting the press’s attention is no easy feat. So we had to create something original that fully immersed journalists in the world of energy saving. We did this by building an eco-themed ‘Winter Wonderland’ - an elaborate set made entirely of fairly traded, recycled or sustainably produced materials in which visitors could explore green products at their leisure. And we also recruited Smartplanet’s Lorraine Riley and Adam Vaughan as the ‘Green Queen’ and ‘Energy Doctor’, to offer up some pearls of energy saving wisdom throughout the day.

This event sparked unprecedented publicity for the Energy Saving Trust. Since the show, manufacturers have seen an upswing in sales of their featured devices. And the Energy Saving Trust is now attracting more and more attention from those on a quest to save energy in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
