Can a website make you healthier?

Oxleas is one of the largest health and social care foundation trusts in the UK. Their original focus had been on mental health, but that had changed in recent years to include physical health and learning disability services. Oxleas had changed but their communication (especially their website) hadn’t. And that's where we came in.
-
The first step was to establish what the new Oxleas brand was by conducting a workshop. Once we’d got that, we put it into practice in the creation of a new website that not only looked and sounded different, but worked differently too, with lots of interactive elements and use of a CMS system so staff could take charge and add a more personable feel. We also wanted to make the site as accessible as possible. Our endless testing and re-testing resulted in Shaw Trust's 'accessibility plus' - one of the highest levels of accessibility accreditation available.

Oxleas’ warmer, more human brand and website have helped them become an approachable and helpful resource for anyone with mental, physical or learning needs in South East London. In fact, the website now receives an impressive 15,000 unique visitors every month and was shortlisted for ‘Best Website’ by the Association of Healthcare Communicator Awards (AHCA). Proving that your online presence is sometimes just as important as your real one.
